3 ideas: Hiking Safety, Animal Testing Should Be Banned, Body Image Issues

Big Idea:

Topic: beauty product testing on animals (facts, statistics, & alternative products)

Position: banning/ending cosmetic animal testing

Audience: cosmetics users

Transformation: Ignore -> Respond

Rough Narrative/Script:

Wearing makeup is a part of many people’s daily routines. Before cosmetic products go out on the shelf, they must be considered safe for humans. However, many cosmetic companies test these products on animals every day to determine if the product is safe or not. Humans aren’t animals, so how does that make sense?

Say your pet went through lipstick trials to prove whether the product ingredients are safe or not. Your pet would be at serious health risks and suffer without reason. I think I know your response to that, and you can prevent that from happening to innocent animals. Over 500,000 animals suffer and die worldwide every year in cosmetics tests.

325+ companies have endorsed the Humane Cosmetics Act, which would end unnecessary animal testing in the U.S. You can do your part by purchasing cruelty free cosmetics that have the leaping bunny logo, such as e.l.f., Wet N Wild, and CoverGirl. Animal testing is unethical, wasteful, and costly. Let’s put our brushes together and stop cosmetic testing because beauty should be kind. For more information visit humansociety.org.

Revised Script:

Many people’s first instinct as a pet owner is to protect and care for their pet, but what if something worn in most people’s everyday lives was directly hurting innocent animals? Many would object to the idea of their pet being used for any sort of testing, so why should other animals deal with the pain? Just one simple ingredient in a cosmetics product can involve up to 1,400 animals. Many mass production companies have been testing their products on animals since 1938, a total of 83 years!!! Over 500,000 animals suffer and die worldwide every year from cosmetics tests, and you can do your part to stop it.

Over 325 companies have endorsed the Humane Cosmetics Act, which would end unnecessary animal testing in the U.S. Animals aren’t humans and cannot consent to these acts, which leaves the testing of these products on them unethical. You can do your part by purchasing cruelty free cosmetics with the leaping bunny logo, such as e.l.f, Wet N Wild, & CoverGirl. Animal testing is unethical, wasteful, and costly. Let’s put our brushes together and stop cosmetic testing because beauty should be kind. Join the hashtag #BeCrueltyFree and help end cosmetic cruelty. For more information visit humanesociety.org
