Concept:

  • create a new logo for an advancing portable and affordable scalp cooling technology system
  • build a website from the ground up for their system/product
  • create a business card for both co-founders

Initial Research:

(their original logo) wanted to keep a glacier icon in their new logo
  • ‘Chemotherapy Care Solution’ https://www.erietech.org/eti-clients/client/glacier-scalp-cooling
  • founded in 2021 by Justo Hernandez and Evan Fisler
  • SYSTEM: portable and wearable scalp cooling device that allows patients to practice scalp cooling anywhere, anytime
  • requires no assistance from the medical staff while increasing revenue for the infusion centers
  • affordable and portable
  • allows freedom and flexibility within patients’ daily lives
  • was a client of Erie Technology Incubator (ETI) https://www.erietech.org/eti-clients/
  • success rate of scalp-cooling therapies is 50–80%

Competitors:

  1. Paxman Scalp Cooling https://paxmanscalpcooling.com/
  • https://coldcap.com/cold-capping/
  • pioneering scalp cooling technology to help prevent chemotherapy-induced alopecia worldwide for over 20 years
  • Glenn Paxman created because of his wife Sue
  • logo is a word mark with a ring icon

2. DigniCap Scalp Cooling System https://dignicap.com/

  • 1st scalp cooling to receive FDA clearance in 2015
  • created by Dignitana, a Swedish medical technology company
  • invented in Sweden by Yovonne Olofsson in 1996
  • currently available in hundreds of hospitals worldwide
  • logo is a simple word mark that is blue with an emphasized red letter “C”

The clients liked the color palette, gradient background, and the medium weight of the font (Transat Text). They also liked the smooth transition from left to right and personal feel from other photos.

Digital Logos:

final logo iterations

Logos for First Presentation:

my 5 logo concepts presented to client

The clients really liked the simplicity of the first logo design but wanted the Glacier Scalp Cooling horizontally next to the logo or the three words stacked. They really liked the idea of incorporating the G into the design, and they suggested using this in a more softer version of the second logo design.

Website Wireframes:

initial one page wireframes made in Adobe XD
wireframe section placement iterations
this is the final updated wireframe we based the actual website layout on when we started
Since the website would only be one page, we wanted to add in a carousel with infographics and information. These are example layout ideas I created.

Icons and Illustrations for Website:

I created various illustrations to be included on the website for different sections since the clients do not have specific pictures of what the scalp cooling system looks like. They gave us reference images for graphics/illustrations they wanted us to attempt to make. I created sketches for the benefits icons but moved forward with other illustrations when we split tasks up amongst the team.

sketch ideas for benefits icons
initial woman with backpack prototype illustrations
a different exploration of illustration style with strokes
stand up woman illustration with backpack rolling
first hair follicle and another backpack with subtle strokes
revisions
final revised backpack illustrations at three views
updated woman illustration with new backpack illustrations
